Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun unveiled a lot of details of their latest foldable Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 ahead of its launch on August 14. After a lot of leaks and rumours, here is everything we know so far about Xiaomi Mix Fold 3.
Xiaomi is bringing some massive improvements to the Mix Fold 3s camera, display and hinge compared to the Mix Fold 2. Xiaomi describes the phone as “defining a new standard for foldable display “. The display of the device will use a 8.03 inch Samsung e6 AMOLED display with ultra thin glass. The display will refresh at 120Hz and have a peak Brightness of 2600 nits.
Xiaomi will also introduce a new hinge called ‘keel hinge’. This new hinge design brings a 17% decrease in hinge area space and 8% reduction in hinge width. The hinge is made with high-strength materials, such as 1800MPa super steel and carbon ceramic steel. The hinge is certified for 500,000 fold.
Mix Fold 3 thickness will be 4.93mm when unfolded and 9.8mm when folded. This will be the thinnest foldable beating the current thinnest foldable Honor magic v2 which is 9.9mm thick when folded. This is much better than the newly released Samsung Galaxy z fold 5.
Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 will feature Leica tuned quad cameras. It will have a dual telephoto camera with a 3.2x and a 5x which will be a big upgrade over the previous Mix Fold 2. The camera will feature Leica summicron high transmission glass lense. There is very few foldable phone with a 5x telephoto lens available right now namely the Google pixel fold and Huawei mate X3.
Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 will likely use the Qualcomm snapdragon 8 gen 2 3.36ghz edition chipset ( known as snapdragon 8 gen 2 for galaxy).
Unfortunately Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 won’t be launched globally. It will be a Chinese exclusive launch.
