Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 powering RedMagic 8S Pro scores 1.7M in AnTuTu
RedMagic phones are mostly made with the mindset of providing best possible gaming performance. That being said, the upcoming Red magic 8S Pro represents the raw power of Snapdragon’s latest chipset. Previously it was rumored that the RedMagic 8 Pro will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Now it appears that the device name is RedMagic 8S Pro and it will utilize the overclocked version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
In the past, Snapdragon chipsets were lagging behind from Apple’s Bionic chips in terms of benchmark scores. But now the scenes are changing rapidly. Snapdragon processors are very capable nowadays. The engineering unit of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 scored way higher than A16 in Geekbench 5. But it will require a bit of time to appear in the market inside an Android phone.
In the meantime, Nubia, with their upcoming RedMagic 8S Pro used the high frequency version of the current Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. This overclocked chipset is working surprisingly well with the help of the dedicated active cooling technology. The phone features an active cooling fan inside the phone that helps the phone avoid thermal throttling and keep providing consistent processing power. Also the cooling fan should look cool with the transparent edition of RedMagic 8S Pro.
With this setup, RedMagic 8S Pro was tested using AnTuTu benchmark app. The device scored 1704113 along with a very respectable GPU score of 642666. The CPU score also increased significantly from 265523 (in 8 Gen 2) to 436089. Overall score is now increased from ±1279685 to ±1704113 with a 33.16% improvement.
Samsung previously used the overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 inside their Galaxy S23 Ultra. They named it the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy.
This new overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 have the same 3.36GHz clock speed like Samsung customized ones. But this time, it’s manufactured with the latest and more matured TSMC 4nm process. So we can expect better performance and efficiency with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2.
