Qualcomm snapdragon 8 gen 2 camera capabilities will blow your mind
Qualcomm released their latest flagship processor the Qualcomm snapdragon 8 gen 2 in December last year. A lot of big brands Already release their latest flagship with this processor such as the Xiaomi 13 series and Galaxy s23 series etc.
Even though the chipset is out for almost three months, you might not know the insane camera capabilities of the snapdragon 8 gen 2. The Triple ISP (Image signal processor) on the chipset is incredibly powerful.
According to Qualcomm on Their website the Qualcomm Spectra™ packs 18-bit triple Cognitive ISPs and an Always-Sensing camera with AI, intelligently enhancing every Snapdragon Sight™ experience. Plus, capture incredible footage with up to 200 MP single capture—all at 3.2 gigapixels per second.
The 8 gen 2 Video recordings gose upto 8k 30fps with support for 10-bit, HDR10+, HLG and Dolby Vision. High bandwidth 3.2 gigapixel capture also allows for 4k 120fps video.
Even though the ISP on the 8 gen 2 is very capable it’s up to the Manufacturer of the device how they want to utilise all the power. Most of the time phone companies don’t use all the capabilities that the ISP has to offer.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 has mind blowing performance. But not all the companies are impressed with it. Qualcomm should watch out because they got competition from the likes of Oppo (MariSilicon X), Vivo ( V1 ISP) and Xiaomi (Surge C1) who developed their own custom ISP.
Qualcomm has already started working on the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. We hope there might be some major improvements over the ISP section to cope up with the compititors.
