The GoPro Hero 12 Black comes equipped with a 27-megapixel 1/1.9-inch sensor, identical to that of the Hero 11 Black. It is capable of capturing 5.3k resolution video at 60 fps with an aspect ratio of 8:7. Despite retaining the same camera hardware as the previous model, they have enhanced the software with the new HyperSmooth 6.0 video stabilization technology. For comparison their biggest competitor the DJI Osmo Action 3 comes with a bigger 1/1.7 inch sensor
The biggest improvement of the GoPro Hero 12 Black over the previous generation is the battery life. Even though it has the same battery as the Hero 11 black it now gets 10 minutes longer video capture time when recording at 5.3k 60 fps. And when recording at 1080p 30 fps the Hero 12 Black gets a mind blowing 2.5 hours of battery life which is a 150 minutes improvement over the Hero 11 Black.

The Hero 12 Black keeps the proven dual display design with a 2.27 x 1.4 inch main display at the front. It also retains standard action camera features like waterproofing and replaceable lense cover. The camera is priced at €449.99 and scheduled to launch on September 13th 2023.
