Samsung is preparing to launch their latest Galaxy S24 series with an exclusive snapdragon for Galaxy variant chipset. The S23 series also had a snapdragon for galaxy processor which has a higher 3.36GHz clock speed compared to the 3.2GHz on the regular version.
Earlier we had the Geekbench score for the Galaxy 24+ which confirmed the use of 8 gen 3 but we didn’t know if it was a special variant or not. A new listing on Geekbench which is believed to be the upcoming RedMagic 9 shows it has a different 8 Gen 3 variant. It uses a (2+5+1) core configuration. For reference the S24+ had a (2+2+3+1) core configuration. The Galaxy variant also appears to be overclocked.
This more or less confirms that the S24 series will use the ‘Snapdragon for Galaxy’ variant. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy has two Cortex A520 clocked at 2.27GHz, two Cortex A720 running at 2.96GHz, three Cortex A720 at 3.15GHz and a single Cortex X4 core clocked at 3.3GHz.
For comparison the regular snapdragon Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 on the RedMagic 9 has two Cortex A520 clocked at 2.27GHz, five Cortex A720 at 2.96GHz and a single Cortex X4 running at 3.19GHz. The RedMagic 9 scored 1596 on single-core and 5977 on multi-core and the S24+ scored 2233 on single-core and 6661 on multi-core which is 10% higher score than the regular Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy might not be fully exclusive to Samsung because we have seen the RedMagic 8s pro released two months ago uses a snapdragon 8 Gen 2 advanced edition which is the same as the 8 gen 2 for Galaxy variant. So Qualcomm might also release the 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy edition to other OEMs in the 2nd half next year.
