Samsung Galaxy FE or Fan Edition phones are affordable alternatives to the mainstream Galaxy flagships. They offer flagship experience in the upper mid-budget price segment. Specially, many people prefer and recommend a Galaxy FE over any phone in its price range for a camera. But since Galaxy S21 FE, Samsung started using Exynos chipset which is less powerful and efficient than Snapdragon SoCs. Samsung seems to continue using Exynos chipsets in the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE as well.
Recently Galaxy S23 FE was added to Geekbench server as samsung SM-S711B. Someone did an OpenCL test of the device with the Geekbench app. As always, it revealed some information regarding the device such as CPU configuration, RAM variant, Android version, motherboard etc.
According to the information on Geekbench, the Galaxy S23 FE is using last year’s Exynos 2200 chipset. This octa-core Exynos 2200’s largest CPU core can reach up to 2.80GHz. The Xclipse 920 GPU on Exynos 2200 has a max frequency of 555MHz. The test unit was equipped with 8GB RAM. The Exynos 2200 is more powerful than Exynos 1380 which Samsung used on Galaxy M54. But they are far behind than even Qualcomm’s 7 series 2nd Gen SoC.
As per the Android version, Galaxy S23 FE is running on Android 13 based OneUi 5 skin. But we were expecting Samsung’s upcoming Flagships or Midranges to come with the OneUi 6 based on Android 14. There will be a lot of new features in OneUi 6. Also the Android 14 will brings Lock Screen widget customization features to Android devices for the first time.
