Android 13 is so far the most latest version of Android. But it lacks some additional features which sometimes become handy. It also lacks advanced customization options like non-AOSP custom roms. But Google is adding customization features in every major Android update.
With the iPhone 14 series, Apple introduced some lock screen customization features. Users can add selected widgets, change wallpapers, change clock styles. Though none of them are very unique, people talk. Now with the Android 14, Google might add similar features in lock screen customization.
Android tipster Mishaal Rahman shared some information about Android 14 DP2. According to Mishaal, there are some new lock screen customization features. It’s mainly with a lock screen clock widget. Users will be able to change the clock size in three options:
- Small
- Large
- Dynamic
There is also an option to change the Clock widget color. As of now, Mishaal found the following colors that can be applied on the lock screen clock:
- Blue
- Grey
- Green
- Indigo
- Orange
- Red
- Teal
- Violet
- Yellow
This customization should make the UI more optimized with the Material You theming of Android.
Another new lock screen customization feature was spotted. It’s related to Android 14 lock screen widgets. With Android 14 update, there will be a new toggle in Lock screen section called Show weather. This will allow users to decide whether the weather widget should appear or not on the Lock screen. Currently it is shown by default in Android 13.
These are the new lock screen customization features found in Android 14 Developer Preview 2. Let’s see if those features applied in the final release of Android 14.
